Fire Breaks Out at Sonoco Mill

A fire broke out at Sonoco Products Co.’s recycled paperboard mill in Menasha, Wis., on June 25. Firefighters contained the fire that broke out on the roof between vents of the company’s U.S. Paper Mills Corp. facility, The Post-Crescent reports.

According to Neenah Menasha Fire Rescue Chief Len Vander Wyst, company officials say the fire shut down one papermaking machine and the mill’s venting system. Vander Wyst says damage was limited to the roof and some vent motors, adding that firefighters had to cut trenches to stop the fire from spreading. A cause and a damage estimate were not immediately available, The Post-Crescent says.
