IP to Cut Shift at Ohio Box Plant

March 25, 2009 By: Packaging online staff Box Biz

International Paper Co. (IP), Memphis, Tenn., plans to cut a production shift and two work days at its Mount Vernon, Ohio corrugated container plant in May, trimming the operation’s staff by a third or 58 workers, Columbus Business First reports. In a filing with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the company stated that it plans to move to a three-shift, five-day operation beginning May 10. That will be a reduction from the four shifts the plant runs every day. About 120 employees will remain at the plant.
