KapStone Mill Accident Injures Nine

Nine people were injured on Oct. 3 at KapStone Paper and Packing Corp.’s unbleached kraft paper mill in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., according to a mill spokesperson, WRAL-TV5 reported Oct. 4.

Spokeswoman Kimberly Bracy says the nine workers for various contractors were taken to an area hospital, and by late Sunday morning seven had been treated and released, Bracy says. Conditions of the two remaining in hospital have not been released, reported WRAL-TV.

The workers were injured Saturday evening at the KapStone Kraft Paper Mill, but Bracy says she could not give more details about the accident. The mill and contractors are working closely to determine the cause of the accident and to implement more safety measures, Bracy says.
