New Tool Available for Buyers and Sellers

October 11, 2008 Official Board Markets

A new e-commerce platform is aimed at saving buyers and converters of corrugated packaging time and money. By providing a platform where corrugated packaging buyers and manufacturers can find each other, cBoxBid.com is changing the way corrugated packaging is procured. On cBoxBid.com, buyers who need corrugated packaging can post requests for quotes to be bid on by corrugated converters. Buyers remain anonymous until they request to be contacted by a manufacturer. Once contact is initiated, the two collaborate to create satisfactory terms to complete the sale. Quotes on cBoxBid.com are nonbinding and do not obligate a buyer to work with a particular manufacturer.

cBoxBid.com is the brainchild of CEO Marc Deye, a corrugated sales veteran who realized that the corrugated marketplace was outdated and needed a change because there was no e-commerce platform that allowed buyers and  manufacturers to meet each other online.

“In the past, e-commerce platforms dedicated to corrugated were either reverse bid or transactional,” he says. “Neither platform allowed the buyer or manufacturer to collaborate before a deal was signed.  Collaboration was the missing link.”

cBoxBid.com posts buyer requirements and allows subscribing manufacturers to respond. Buyers can evaluate on price alone, but can also refer to cBoxBid’s online rating system for quality and customer service ratings delivered by other buyers. Then, the buyer can contact the manufacturer directly to make a final determination if there’s a good match.

Buyers using cBoxBid.com save time because they control the sales process, eliminating unnecessary communication with multiple manufacturers. When a request for quote (RFQ) is posted to the site, all bidders get the same information at the same time. Buyers save money because the process ensures they will find the manufacturer who can do the job for the lowest amount and still make a profit. cBoxBid.com does not charge a fee to buyers who post RFQs. Converters who use cBoxBid.com benefit by being able to more efficiently market plant capacity – often to buyers they didn’t know or hadn’t been able to reach through the conventional sales process.
