OCC and CSI Become One Force
October 25, 2008 Official Board MarketsOrange County Container (OCC), City of Industry, Calif., and Corrugated Services Inc. (CSI), Forney, Texas will merge, forming Orange County Container Group, LLC. The merger is expected to close before the end of the year. The combined company will have more than $550 million in combined revenues and 2,600 employees.
“Both of these companies have experienced tremendous growth in the Southwest,” OCC CEO Michael Feterik says. “Merging our resources will allow us to focus even more on this market and take advantage of the growth opportunities that we expect to encounter over the next decade.”
OCC officials say the merger has positioned the combined company for growth.
“This merger will allow us to expand our footprint and add jobs,” OCC COO Greg Hall says. “We are not shuttering plants, but planning for new ones.”
The two companies have been working together for more than a decade. CSI says the merger is a logical progression in the developing relationship between the two companies.
“Putting these two strong companies together capitalizes on our shared vision moving forward,” CSI President Forest Felvey says. “Our combined customers and employees will benefit from the increased stability and opportunity that this merger offers.”
CSI will continue to service the independent corrugated converter market.
“We have been OCC’s primary supplier of brown linerboard for years, both from Forney and through our trade partners,” explains Bill Baker, vice president of marketing for CSI. “This merger strengthens that relationship and provides new opportunities to streamline the supply chain. However, we expect no change in the availability of our containerboard to the open market.”
CSI produces 100 percent recycled linerboard and corrugating medium, as well as packaging papers and coated products. The company, founded in 1974, produces more than 300,000 tons of containerboard per year.
OCC began in 1981 and has 13 locations in southern California and Mexico.
Feterik will be the ceo of the new company. Felvey will be the president and responsible for the paper division and Hall will be the president of the packaging division.
