Potato Starch Could Go in iPhone Package

July 19, 2008 Official Board Markets

Apple Inc.’s iPhone 3G will reportedly be sold in packaging made from potato starch and created by Dutch eco-friendly packaging firm PaperFoam, web site packagingnews.co.uk reports.

The packaging will consist of a folding carton and a recyclable starch-based inlay instead of plastic to reduce carbon emissions and cut down on energy use. The Dutch company has supplied packaging for the iPod nano and iPod video, but Apple has not confirmed that PaperFoam will provide the packaging for the iPhone 3G.
