BOX MAKER

Autobox Ltd. introduces the Pak Master 2800. The box-maker machine can work with either cut-to-size blanks or stock sheets up to 2.8 m wide by 10 m in length. Board grades from single- to triplewall can be handled. With the ability of producing "multi-out" blanks from stock sheet, throughput speeds from about 500 per hour one up to 1,500 per hour three up can be achieved. Off cuts are unmarked, enabling trim board to be used for other jobs. The on-board computer features a simple-to-use touch screen to enable quick set-up times. It stores previously run jobs for easy recall. Interchangeable tooling, including slot and cutting/scoring knives, creasing bars and tooling for simple diecuts, are all fitted without the need for setting tools. The software provides all setting data and automatically resets the computer numerical control (CNC) system. Designed with easy access to re-set tooling, the machine is robustly constructed to withstand the rigors of a modern sheet plant environment.

1. ALL-ELECTRONIC KNIFEHOLDER

Tidland introduces the e-Knifeholder, the industry's first all-electronic knifeholder. It's designed to eliminate the guesswork in knifeholder setup as well as increase blade life, slitting accuracy, and efficiency. The unit can self-calibrate to optimize critical blade geometry during setup, blade overlap and side-force. By ensuring the proper adjustments during setup, blade wear is reduced and changes are required less often, translating to less downtime and reduced operating costs. The side-force and blade overlap are maintained through multiple shifts, ensuring consistent slit quality, reducing maintenance, and making blade life easy to track.

4. STRIPPAGE PRODUCT

Container Graphics Corp. has developed a new strippage product that uses the same principal as its ScrapBlaster™ product: ScrapBlaster Mini Strips are lower in height and are in a strip format that can be cut to the desired length for the application. The product enhances the ScrapBlaster line, and is designed for use with slots, demanding diecuts and high-volume applications. ScrapBlaster Mini Strips have shown the ability to provide 100 percent strippage at higher press speeds. The product has been made part of the customer specification by customers who have tested and evaluated it.

5. WATER-BASED COATING

ColorCoat™ from Michelman is a water-based, repulpable coating for use on corrugated packaging, boxes, and displays. The coating can be matched accurately to any color swatch, including silver, gold, and bronze. In addition to fast production turnaround, ColorCoat features excellent batch-to-batch color consistency and is available in customizable batch sizes. The coatings can be formulated to be fade-resistant in direct sunlight, and have a bright, vivid finish or one that is muted and matte. It is also designed for processing on the corrugator, making it practical to use linerboard for decorative jobs that would otherwise require special grades.
