Welch Packaging Purchases Commander Packaging

Welch has acquired certain assets, including the customer list of Commander. Other terms were not disclosed. In addition, the company has hired Commanders’ sales, customer service, design, and executive personnel. Welch will continue to use the Monee facility as a sales office, customer service and design center, as well as an order fulfillment facility.
“Commander has a great reputation, many loyal customers and some very talented people,” says Scott Welch, president and ceo of Welch Packaging. “These customers fit our geographic footprint like a glove, and our expanded capabilities should enable many of the Commander customers to consolidate their packaging needs into Welch Packaging.”
Welch Packaging operates six box businesses, two distribution centers and a plastic thermoforming business. The box businesses are located in Elkhart, Ind.; Indianapolis; Toledo, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Cleveland; and Chicago.
